RIP — Terry Kath (1946-1978)
Terry Kath, guitarist of Chicago, accidentally shot himself on this day in 1978. Here’s the last filmed performance of Chicago with Terry, from the summer of ’77. It was after Kath’s death that Chicago switched from a hard rocking jazz band to more ballad based soft rock fare. 25 or 6 to 4 with Terry just killin’ it:

Here’s the last filmed Chicago show with the late and great Terry Kath. It takes place in Houston, TX in the summer of 1977. Terry sadly died six months later in January of 1978, the result of accidental gun play. Watch Terry just kill this guitar solo. Too bad the band didn’t continue more music like “25 or 6 to 4″ after Kath’s death. I suppose they couldn’t without his influence.
