Download Mike Gordon’s show from 10/3/09
We’re excited to announce 10/3/2009 The Town Ballroom, Buffalo, NY – the next release from Mike Gordon’s five-piece band (which includes Scott Murawski on guitar, Craig Myers on percussion, Tom Cleary on keyboards and drummer Todd Isler) on CD and as a download (in both MP3 and FLAC formats) at LivePhish.com.
This 2-CD show was culled from Mike’s 2009 Fall Tour and features several new songs from his repertoire including “Can’t Stand Still” and “Spiral”. A handful of covers, carefully deconstructed and reconstructed with a fresh twist, were also played that night including Radiohead’s “15 Step”, The Talking Heads’ “Cities” and The Mustangs’ “Time For Loving Is Now”.
The show was fully remixed by Mike, from the band’s multitrack recordings and is mastered. You can download the show now at LivePhish.com and pre-order it on CD at both LivePhish.com or Mike’s Online Store.

We have a winner!
Thanks to all who entered to win tickets to see Trey Anastasio at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Lots of great entries, but of course there can only be one winner…and that is Scott Brown. His favorite Trey Band show memory is below. Scott, enjoy the show!
After reading about this contest I went back and re-visited the many Trey solo shows that I attended over the years and in my mind there is a clear winner…….

This show stands out for many reasons. First off the ticket gods smiled on us for this show and we got 4 seats together 2nd row center in an already intimate venue. This was early in the Trey Band years so many of these songs felt fresh and exciting. It was during the first hiatus so it was an extra special treat to see Mike Gordon back on stage with Trey. The bands entrance brought and unprecedented energy to the room before the first note was played and every thing was played well and with purpose unlike some of the later Trey band shows (i.e the second set of the Tabernacle show 11/1/02 where Trey “played” 2 songs and “conducted” the crowd for 30 min…. I’ve been excited since Trey announced this tour but having recently moved to Charleston from Atlanta I haven’t been able to pull the trigger on tickets yet but I really want to be there. Will the ticket gods smile on again?????
Trey Anastasio Band — “Don’t Need Nothin’ But A Good Time”
As Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB move on from the Northeast leg of their tour onto the Midwest and South, they have left a trail of happy faces in their path. The “anything can happen at anytime” M.O. that Phish lives and dies with is nowhere to be found on TAB Tour, alleviating all the pressure that comes with Phish shows for Trey Anastasio. Big Red and his bandmates are clearly having fun and the happiness is contagious. (continue…)
43 Years ago today…
The Beatles started recording one of my favorite songs of theirs, “Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite” at Abbey Road. The lyrics were taken almost verbatim from an 1843 circus poster. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
Frank Zappa — “Montana”
From 8/21/73.
According to Barry Miles’ Zappa biography, Tina Turner was so impressed with a rough cut of the song, she volunteered herself and her backup singers to sing the “raising my lonely dental floss” backups on the song. Afterwards, Tina called her then-husband Ike Turner into the studio to listen. According to Miles, Ike listened for about a minute, declared “What the hell is this shit?”, and left.
