RIP — John Lennon (10/1/1940) – (12/8/1980)
December 8, 1980: Psycho and modern day nut, Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon outside of Lennon’s NYCity home at The Dakota. Chapman thought he was Jesus/Holden Caufield and basically just bat$h&t crazy. Click here and here to read further details of that fateful day. I remember telling my parents the news after seeing the report on Monday Night Football. Of course I was six years old, but I knew that this was important-I knew who The Beatles were, but probably couldn’t have picked out John at that time. Chapman has remained in New York’s Attica State Prison since his conviction in 1980. An incredibly senseless and pointless act of violence.
