Phish and 99 “killer” albums
In a customarily creative fashion, Phish has come up with a way to reveal their choice for their Halloween album. On Phish.com they have a gallery of 99 potential albums and one by one they are “killed” or stricken from the final decision. Pretty cool idea if you ask me. What do you think they’ll choose? Hidden Track has listed some cool stats on the possible albums.

Wolfgang’s Vault to add more concerts for download
I was just recently on Wolfgang’s Vault streaming a vintage Stephen Stills show from 1974 and enjoying it immensely. I then thought, ya know, I’d like to purchase this show, but it wasn’t available for download. Well, now it seems that this will be an option on the site.
DETROIT (Billboard) – The once controversial Wolfgang’s Vault, which has amassed the largest collection of licensed streaming live recordings on the Internet, is about to make a treasure trove of those concerts available for downloading.
Beginning November 3, the site will add more than 1,000 titles from 919 artists to the approximately 500 that are currently available for purchase from the site’s Concert Vault section, Bill Sagan, CEO and founder of Wolfgang’s Vault LLC and its parent company, Norton LLC, told Billboard.com. Phish — Guilty Pleasure?
In a pool of 32 artists, Phish reigned supreme as the greatest guilty pleasure according to Entertainment Weekly. I agree with the pleasure aspect, but I don’t feel guilty! Click here to check it out. Happy birthday Trey!
40 years ago today…
David Crosby’s girlfriend, Christine Hinton was killed in a car crash, when her cat wedged itself between the floorboard and her brake pedal. Her death deeply affected Crosby and those closest to he him claim he’s never been the same since. For many years after the accident, Crosby would dedicate “Guinnevere” to her in concert.
Happy Birthday — Trey Anastasio
My favorite living musician and guitarist for Phish, turns 45 today. 2009 has been a great year for Trey, with the return of Phish and working with various orchestras for his compositions, Trey has proven once again that he is one of the most creative and inspired musicians working today. Thanks for all you do, Big Red!

Avett Brothers — Stream “I And Love And You”
Stream the new album here and check out the NPR article.
With their roots in punk and bluegrass, Seth and Scott Avett know how and when to careen wildly, almost recklessly. But in their albums as The Avett Brothers, they’re just as likely to ruminate softly on devotion, desire and regret, in austere, sweet-natured songs that exude a sort of hard-won decency. Hear the band’s much-anticipated major-label debut, I and Love and You, in its entirety here for the week leading up to its release on Sept. 29. (more…)
String Cheese Incident to release 9 disc set
From SCI Fidelity:
The String Cheese Incident unveils their new limited edition live release, Trick Or Treat, on October 27, 2009. The timing is fitting, considering the nine-disc box set was culled from a variety of epic SCI “Hulaween” shows. From Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse (1998) Philadelphia’s Electric Factory (1999), Portland, Maine’s State Theatre (2000), New York City (2001), Shrine Auditorium (2002) in Los Angeles, Sin City’s Cox Pavillion (2003) and the Exhibition Center @ Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin (2004) – Trick or Treat journeys through the years to re-visit some of the band’s most classic Incidents from Halloween’s past.
This exclusive box set offers seven of SCI’s famous Halloween cover sets in their entirety, including String Cheese performing songs by such artists as the Beatles, Beastie Boys, KC & The Sunshine Band, Phish and many others.

Happy Birthday — John Coltrane
Bebop and free jazz saxophonist, John Coltrane would have been 83 today. To say that Coltrane was a great saxophonist is like saying Willie Mays was a good outfielder, translation = he was the best. Here’s John tackling the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, “My Favorite Things”.
Hidden Track’s Best Of The 00′s, Parts I & II
Hidden Track’s team has picked the best albums of the 00′s. Several albums you’d expect and some you wouldn’t.
It’s been quite some time since the HT Crew got together for an old fashioned cookout, and frankly the ol’ grill was getting a bit dusty and feeling neglected. With the summer – and for that matter the decade – rapidly coming to a close we figured we’d round up the gang, throw some large hunks of meat on the fire pit and crack open a few 21st Amendment Brew Free! Or Die IPAs for another rousing edition of At The Barbecue. (Part I) (Part II)
An “ODD” conversation with Keller Williams
Jambands.com:
After the numerous high profile guests – Bob Weir, Bela Fleck, String Cheese Incident — who appeared on Keller Williams’ 2007 studio effort, Dream, the traveling tape looping troubadour goes it pretty much alone on his latest release, Odd. Fans of his live shows should feel as if they’re in a comfy environment as the 12 tracks find him moving from guitar-driven tracks to Keller-tronica, a ballad to ease the pace and much more. (more…)
