Phish — Hidden Track’s Fenway review
Hidden Track:
Ever heard of phenomenology? Me either; this one just fell in my lap. In the early chapters of Muriel Barbery’s relatively recent bestseller, The Elegance of the Hedgehog
which just so happened to be in my lap on the train this weekend, she put forth this idea of phenomenology, “the science of what appears to our conscious.” As she so aptly puts, “For millennia now, by way of ‘I know thyself’ to ‘I think therefore I am,’ mankind has been rambling on about the ridiculous human prerogative that is our consciousness.” (more…)

MSNBC has listed their top five “jambands” to see this summer. Interestingly enough, Phish isn’t even an option on their poll. Click here to check the article.

UM — Star Spangled from The Floor
Shifting focus from one classic US ballpark to another, Chicago’s Umphrey’s McGee took center stage to present Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spagled Banner” with obvious pride, as Brendan Bayliss shares from the band’s blog, The Floor:
I don’t care how many time we get to sing the anthem at Wrigley, it will never get old. There’s something magical about getting to walk out on to the field and being able to look Sweet Lou in the eyes. It makes me feel like a little kid every time, and I hope we did a good enough job to be invited back. Going into the game the Cubs were 3-0 when we sing for the. Unfortunately, Sean Marshall gave up 5 in the first, so the game was a bitter sweet experience. Baseball is a game of numbers, and 3-1 is still pretty good….but a loss is a loss and all we could do was drink that one away.
We will be doing the anthem at some other ball park next week. I will be wearing Cubs boxers to make it feel right.

One can only imagine that Ryan Stasik refrained from a vocal solo.

Phish — “DWD” @ Fenway & Boston Herald Article
Boston Herald:
Phish was phenomenal at Phenway, er, Fenway.
Corny? Very. But also completely true.
Last night at the venerated home of the Sox, the jam band extraordinaire did what they do in front of a capacity, going-bonkers crowd. And they did it well.
At a Phish show, the set list isn’t about hit singles that must be played. There’s also no quintessential album to pull from. And, with the as-of-yet-untitled reunion record not scheduled to drop until July 28, the Vermont quartet doesn’t even have anything new to promote. (more…)
