Umphrey’s McGee — Cavorting with Buddy Guy

buddyguyFrom Jambands.com:

Last night, Umphrey’s McGee opened up its three night New Year’s Eve run and welcomed a local guitar legend to the stage. At the close of the band’s first set, the group brought out Buddy Guy, who has been synonymous with Chicago’s electric blues since the late 1950s. Guy sat in for “Hoochie Coochie Man,” “She’s Only 19″ and “Damn Right I’ve Got the Blues.” In addition, as we reported yesterday, Jeff Coffin also was on hand and contributed to a number of songs, including: “Resolution,” “Intentions Clear” a second set “Jimmy Stewart” and the evening’s encore, a take on Billy Joel’s “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant” (which the band last covered on New Year’s Eve 2002). Tonight, Umphrey’s will return to the Auditorium Theatre.
