Sunday Jazz — John Coltrane (11/4/1963) Liederhalle, Stuttgart

So without further adieu, here’s John Coltrane on tour in Germany in early November of ’63. Think if the time period this performance took place. The Civil Rights Movement was underway and President Kennedy was two weeks from being assisinated. This is John Coltrane at his peak and performs several of his favorites: Mr. PC, My Favorite Things, Afro Blue….

On the 5th and 6th he will join Jamie Janover, Michael Travis and Jason Hann in their Praang project for a two-night stand at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom. He’ll be back at Cervantes on December 29 for a performance with the Everyone Orchestra. Then on December 30 and 31 Kimock will ring in 2009 by joining Melvin Seals & JGB at Owsley’s Golden Road.
Phish — “Contact” by Vietnamese third graders.
I found this on Phantasy Tour courtesy of Jack-A-Roe. Apparently it’s his 3rd grade students in Vietnam. It’s kinda cute.
