Umphrey’s McGee — Annual Christmas Benefit ‘USTORM’

Umphrey’s McGee guitarists Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger will once again host a Christmas show around the holidays. The sixth annual, acoustic celebration will take place at Chicago’s Park West on December 6 benefiting USTORM. Past acoustic Christmas shows have featured both special covers and additional members of Umphrey’s McGee.
A few days later, Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist Joel Cummins will also host his Holiday Keyboard Concert with Brian Felix. The third annual show will take place at Chicago’s Schubas on December 18 benefiting Keys 4 Kids. Umphrey’s McGee will kick off its next run of shows at Urbana, IL’s Canopy Club on November 13.
Phish — The Biography

Over a decade after the release of Richard Gehr’s The Phish Book, author Parke Puterbaugh has nearly compelted Phish: The Biography, the first narrative history of Phish. The biography is culled from numerous interviews Puterbaugh conducted with Phish and its organization while serving as the band’s official in-house writer for almost ten years. The noted music and travel writer has also contributed to Rolling Stone, USA Today, Outside, Men’s Journal and Stereo Review, among many others. He has also served as a freelance curatorial assistant and writer for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland since its inception.
The behind the scenes narrative is expected to hit stores in May through The Perseus Books Group, before the band presumably plays its first summer shows since 2004. As of press time, the group’s only confirmed appearances will take place at Hampton, VA’s Hampton Coliseum from March 6-8.

Keller Williams — Confirms New Years Eve Details
Keller Williams will spend New Year’s Eve at Hilton Head, SC’s Shoreline Ballroom. The evening will feature three sets of music, including a set of requests and a set by KW’s Grunge Grass (Williams’ new project offering Bluegrass versions of ‘90’s alt-rock hits with bassist Claude Auther and dobro-wiz Jay Starling). Meanwhile, Spindrift has followed up the God’s Gun soundtrack with a new album, The West, in stores this week via the Dandy Warhols’ imprint, Beat the World Records. The 13-track album features three songs from the soundtrack, and is rife with Morricone staples like surf guitar, haunting organ and loads of hi-hats. Not surprisingly, many of the instrumentals have a cinematic tone, undulating between spastic blasts and haunting interludes. There is also blues- and booze-fueled psychedelic rock (the harmonica-laced “The Wind”), and a few shots from leftfield, such as “The Klezmer Song,” which conjures a drunken Eastern European bar, and “If You Don’t Like It… (Get the Fuck Out),” which sounds like a TV on the Radio b-side. Hampton Coliseum — Oh! The Shows You’ll See!
Looking ahead to March 6, 7 & 8, when Phish returns to the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA. Opening in 1970, the space-ship looking structure has scores of legendary shows, from Elvis Presley, Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, Phish and Dave Matthews. The last show Cliff Burton performed with Metallica before his death in 1986 was performed at the Coliseum. It was home to the American Basketball Association’s Virginia Squires, several professional wrestling events, dozens of basketball tournaments and two teams in the American Hockey League. We have decided to focus on just a few of the stellar musical performances here.

A City Council member from Jersey City was arrested over the weekend after patrons at a Northwest Washington nightclub complained that someone had urinated on them from the balcony, according to police and media reports.
A D.C. police spokesman said Steven Lipski was arrested about 9:50 p.m. and charged with simple assault. A police incident report, which did not name the suspect, gave his age as 44. Another police report listed Lipski as a resident of Jersey City. Public records for the Steven Lipski who sits on the Jersey City council list his age as 43 or 44.(Continue Reading…)
Jennifer Morrill, a spokeswoman for Jersey City, said last night that she did not have all the details about what she termed a “private, personal matter.” It would be “premature to make any kind of comment,” she said.

This is my personal outrage at the individual who decided to pull his penis out of his pants in the balcony at the 9:30 club on Friday and urinate on the crowd below. Your a Fuck Stick! You might just as well have pissed on the band in my opinion. Your a disgrace to the community and should be ashamed of your self. The irony is it’s someone on this board who is a frequent poster and claims to be a fan of the band. Well sir fans like you we don’t need. You pissed on hard working fans who paid good money to come to our show. How do you think they will remember their experience? There is no excuse for this and I ask you sir to please don’t come to shows anymore. If you can’t keep your dick in your pants take it someplace else. I am outraged!

Pea-brained Jersey City Councilman Steven Lipski swore off booze Sunday – two days after he was busted for urinating on a crowd of revelers at a Washington D.C. nightclub.
“I’ve resolved not to touch alcohol again,” Lipski told reporters outside his home.
