34 Years Ago Today…

Picture this, you’re a very successful soul singer at your peak in 1974, with groupies and the like all over the place. You are widely renowned and loved (this has been established), you go to take a shower and who pops in but a jealous ex-girlfriend who pours a boiling pot of grits over you, giving you third degree burns all over your body. Actually the scalding grits had stuck to your body with the steam of the shower and your ex-girlfriend went into the next room and offed herself with one of your prized pistols.

Well, that’s what happened to Al Green. He calls the event a “wake-up call” that he needed to turn his life around. Al became an ordained pastor and has served and worshipped at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis, TN for the past 33 years. Amen brother!
