Phish — Story Of The Ghost Outtakes

Here are the outtakes of Phish’s ninth album, the funky “Story Of The Ghost”. Recorded at Bearsville Studio in Woodstock, NY. The studio was originally owned by Albert Grossman, who famously managed Dylan & Lennon and later completely dissed both. Enjoy!

RIP — Janis Joplin (1943-1970)

Janis Joplin passed away 38 years ago today of an accidental heroin overdose.  She was found dead in her room at the Landmark Hotel in Hollywood, California. It’s rumored that she had $4 in her hand, the change she received from her dealer for the aforementioned heroin. A sad end to one of the most influential rock icons and faces of the 1960′s.

Here she is in 1970 in Toronto singing “Kozmic Blues”.

Rolling Stones with Eric Clapton — Little Red Rooster

One of the Stones’ great early blues covers. Written by Willie Dixon and recorded by Howlin’ Wolf, the Stones recorded and released it in 1964 and had quite the little blues/pop hit in Great Britain, reaching #3.  Here are the Stones playing at Atlantic City in the late 80′s. Roughly in the same period when Mick stole Eric’s “bird”. Eric was apparently in love with Carla Bruni and she couldn’t resist Mick’s charms. Well she’s now married to the French president, Sarkozy. Funny how things happen, eh?
