Conscious Alliance — Poster Art
We at MSD certainly can appreciate the craftmanship, talent and detail that it takes to make a truly great concert poster. We are also aware of the impact we can have on others’ lives, to help and give. Well, the folks at Conscious Alliance have merged the two. Several of the top concert artisits have donated their works to Conscious Alliance and you can help by purchasing these posters. Actually there are several ways you can help; check out their website for more details. And here’s a link to their poster gallery. So, go over there. Buy a poster or donate some $$$ or time and then come back here. There….don’t you feel better? Together we can make this world a better place.

Muddy Waters — Got My Mojo Workin’
From Wiki:
McKinley Morganfield (born April 4, 1913, Issaquena County, Mississippi; died April 30, 1983, Westmont, Illinois), better known as Muddy Waters, was an American blues musician and is generally considered “the Father of Chicago blues“. He is also the actual father of blues musicians Big Bill Morganfield and Larry ‘Muddy Junior’ Williams.
Considered one of the greatest bluesmen of all time, Muddy Waters was a huge inspiration for the British beat explosion in the 1960s[1] and considered by many to be one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.[2]
In 2004 Waters was ranked #17 in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.[3]

Omer Saar — The Green Album
We would certainly be the first to admit that this site is lacking in hip-hop. So, what we’re adding here is mix-tape of sorts, well I’ll just let Omer explain:
Here it is world. My first release. I hope it becomes the soundtrack for your summer. That was always the intention. Nothing would make me happier than people listening to this 5, 10, 20 years down the line and remembering the Summer of ‘08.
Oh yeah, the Green is for Al Green, whose music is prominently featured on the album.
Little Feat — Hempstead, NY (9/19/1974)

Phish — Best Cover Band Ever?
Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts seems to think so:
The best cover band in history. That is one trophy Phish could take home and put on their mantle- no contest. For a band that wrote so many excellent originals, Phish never lost sight of their ability to nail and integrate the perfect covers into their sets. Beginning as a cover band, way back when, Phish continued to play the music of other bands throughout their career. Whether they adopted songs into their own repertoire, or dropped one-time covers that were inevitably your favorite songs from years past, Phish could nail them. Any way you cut it, Phish could learn a song, or even a whole album in a short while, jump onstage, and shred it apart. The hallowed Utah “Dark Side of the Moon” performance was conjured up in a few hours before the show. We have all seen the off-the-cuff “Roses are Free” rehearsal in Bittersweet Motel, backstage in Rochester before they went on. With the ears and abilities Phish possessed, cover songs were always fun tangents, or centerpieces, to their epic shows. Continue Reading…
Phish — Down With Disease
Taken from an album (“Hoist”) that at first I thought was too commercial and a change of pace for Phish, but have grown to love, “Down With Disease” is the second track on side one. Phish debuted “DWD” on April 4, 1994 after jamming the song out sans lyrics on New Years 1993. The song even birthed Phish’s only music video, directed by Mike Gordon and was featured in an episode of Beavis And Butthead.

The Beatles — Strawberry Fields Forever
Promo clip from February 1967:
John Lennon talked about the song in 1980 to Playboy: “I was different all my life. The second verse goes, ‘No one I think is in my tree.’ Well, I was too shy and self-doubting. Nobody seems to be as hip as me is what I was saying. Therefore, I must be crazy or a genius—’I mean it must be high or low’” and explaining that the song was “psycho-analysis set to music”.
