The Beach Boys — Cool, Cool Water

A very cool Beach Boys track here. Apparently this was to be on Brian Wilson’s aborted opus, Smile, but Smile became Smiley Smile and things got a little weird for the ‘Boys. Well, things got really weird. I’m afraid to say too much because Mike Love might sue me, but when one of your bandmates is a borderline personality, struggling with mental illness, another is hanging with old Charlie Manson in the desert and your father (the band manager) has just sold the band’s publishing company for peanuts, well, everything might not be kopacetic. Word is, Murry Wilson (father of Brian, Carl & Dennis) hit Brian in the head with a 2 x 4 that caused Brian’s deafness in one ear. There is more drama in the Wilson family than the Jackson’s. Although given the choice I’d rather be Brian WIlson than Michael Jackson. But I’d rather be Jesse Jackson than Michael Jackson, that’s not saying much. Anyway, enjoy the clip:
