SIRIUS’ Grateful Dead channel will celebrate Jerry Garcia with nine days of special programming from his birthday on August 1 to the anniversary of his death on August 9. “Jerry Week” will feature music from Garcia’s various bands and side projects, including the Jerry Garcia Band, Legion of Mary and Old & In The Way. The special will also celebrate Garcia’s solo work and collaborations with Merl Saunders, Howard Wales, and David Grisman, among others. The nine day special will also showcase concerts and “Jerry Memories”— anecdotes and stories from prominent artists in the Grateful Dead family and SIRIUS listeners, as well as Garcia’s longtime companion, Carolyn “Mountain Girl” Garcia.
